About this event
Safety Risk Level : 3.
Event Leader : Dennis Trimble.
Meeting : Meet at the RCC at 8:00 a.m. The drive takes about 2.5 hrs (240 mi RT) to the trailhead near Sun Lakes State Park. Please consider a carpool of $20 for the driver. A state Discover Pass is required for parking at the trailhead. We may want to stop for dinner in Moses Lake on the way home (or at least a coffee/snack stop at Starbucks or the like).
Requirements : Bring lunch, water, and hiking essentials. Dress for changeable fall weather. Brightly colored outer wear advisable because of hunting season.
Description : The trail meanders through a variety of terrain and sage step in the canyon leading to the renowned Dry Falls. It begins at Sun Lakes State Park, leads around Perch Lake as it follows the bottom of a high basalt blade before reaching the bottom of Dry Falls. From there we will loop around the blade to Delany Spring Creek and into Camp Delany. The hike (referred to as Umatilla Rock Hike in Alltrails) is about 3 mi RT, and is relatively flat with 550 feet of total assent including an optional steep 150-foot climb to the top of the blade.
Listed by FUN, FIT AND OVER FIFTY CLUB (Google Calendar), gathered by the Richland events calendar.
