ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Flooding forced evacuations at Beach RV Park in Benton City on Dec. 12 as city crews and local volunteers helped residents remove belongings from submerged trailers; officials said resources remain available for those still needing assistance.  FOX41 Yakima

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Yakima River is rising and flooding side roads on 46th Avenue in West Richland, prompting local officials to monitor the condition + video footage from Friday shows high water levels.  KEPR
  • Residents at Beach RV Park in Benton City worked to protect their homes as the Yakima River rose on Thursday morning — neighbors rushed to fill sandbags and move belongings in response to warnings from emergency managers. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bonneville Power Administration is upgrading Richland’s energy transmission line with 10 new tall monopoles along Thayer Drive, a project scheduled to be energized in winter and sparking resident concerns over property impacts (including reduced home values).   • Ellie May, a 4-year-old pup from Tri-Cities Animal Services with a love for tennis balls, is now healthy and ready for adoption. Visitors can meet her Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the shelter.  The KEY

  • A development group announced plans for a multimillion-dollar athletic complex south of Badger Mountain that will include eight soccer fields, six baseball fields, a fieldhouse, an amphitheater, and lodging on nearly 200 acres.
