COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Columbia Basin Veterans Center will host its 5th Tri-Cities Veterans Resource Expo and Stand Down on Nov 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Southridge Sports Complex in Kennewick — more than 80 vendors will offer free healthcare, employment assistance, housing help and haircuts to support approximately 600-700 veterans and their families.  Apple Valley News Now
  • Six Hanford cleanup companies donated $25,500 to the Tri-Cities Food Bank on November 5—helping to support over 40,000 families by keeping food supplies ready for the upcoming winter.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Red Robin will close 10-15 restaurants that are not doing well in 2025 as part of a plan to reduce 70 locations over the next 4-5 years—outlets in Kennewick, Yakima and Wenatchee are among those expected to close. The chain said the affected stores lost about $6 million in 2024 and that leases will end as part of the plan.  KONA

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Benton PUD customers might face a 2.5% rate hike starting April 1 that would raise average bills from $121 to $124 due to rising wholesale costs— a public hearing will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the PUD auditorium in Kennewick where customers can join online.  NBC Tri-Cities

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Richland drivers face delays from work on South George Washington Way as lane closures on Aaron/Adams and a lane reduction on Columbia Point Drive run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday—drivers should use the detour via Comstock Street to Goethals Drive and expect overnight work on November 12.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • Today, Richland drivers face delays as the city closes the northbound left-turn lane and the inside southbound lane on South George Washington Way from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. due to work on the intersection project—tomorrow, overnight work with flaggers will install new traffic signal arms and a detour via Comstock Street to Goethals Drive is in effect.  FOX41 Yakima
  • The city of Pasco installed an inflatable dome over Memorial Park Pool to extend winter swimming. City employees said the pool will reopen in about a week—providing competitive swim teams with a year-round indoor venue.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • Adult and Teen Challenge Pac-West is holding a Christmas trees sale starting November 28th at South Hills Church in Kennewick and Westside Auto Licensing in Pasco. The nonprofit will raise funds for its recovery program — selling trees for $56 each and donating trees to families in need.  KEPR
  • The FDA announced that certain lots of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula have been recalled in Washington due to 13 reported illnesses and signs of infant botulism. Parents are urged to check supplies for lot 206VABP/251261P2 (Use by 01 Dec) and lot 206VABP/251131P2 (Use by 01 Dec) and call a doctor if their baby shows symptoms like poor feeding or breathing difficulties.  KFLD
