- ➤ The Columbia Basin Veterans Center in Pasco got a full renovation at no cost after Lowe's stores in Kennewick and Pasco donated labor and materials over four days—helping the center boost its services as it prepares to distribute nearly 1,000 veteran support signs ahead of Veterans Day ceremonies on November 11th. - ➤ The Tri-Cities Food Co-op held its one-year anniversary celebration on Oct. 30 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.—with a saxophone player and juggler Bill Barr—and said it had finished five of its six steps to fight food insecurity. - ➤ Desert Sage Dental in Kennewick will host a candy buy back drive from November 3rd to November 7th, where kids will be paid one dollar per pound for their candy; the collected candy will be donated to the Union Gospel Mission in Pasco—promoting dental health and community support. The KEY
- ➤ From November 3rd to 7th, kids will bring their Halloween candy to Desert Sage Dental in Kennewick to trade it for cash and help support the Union Gospel Mission in Pasco — doctors Anderson, Zentz, and Ong will pay one dollar per pound. The drive will promote dental health while giving kids a chance to earn money — a benefit for the community. KFLD

- ➤ Washington Department of Ecology is launching the 'Rails, Keels, and Wheels' grant program that will invest $25 million from a Volkswagen settlement to help replace older diesel vehicles with electric models. Businesses, nonprofits, and local governments—such as those operating tugboats, street sweepers, ambulances, and box trucks—can apply to lessen harmful emissions + improve air quality. KONA

- ➤ Tri-Cities food banks are preparing for a surge in clients if SNAP benefits pause in November due to the government shutdown, affecting over 17,000 households and many vulnerable children and seniors—state funds of $2.2 million per week may not fully cover the shortfall. Local agencies urge donations to help meet the upcoming demand amid this uncertainty. KONA
- ➤ The Kennewick Housing Authority broke ground on the Bubble on Gum housing project at 13th and Gum Street, which will serve 58 low-income families across 3.7 acres.
