The Kennewick Irrigation District told agricultural users that water is being cut amid severe drought in the Yakima Basin — orders from the Department of Ecology took effect October 6, will expire October 31, and came after reservoir levels dropped to 7%.

The agencies will work together to boost reservoir capacity and educate water users as heavy mountain snowfall is expected to help ease the drought.

Starting Monday, work at the George Washington Way Intersection will install underground conduits for a new traffic signal system — temporary lane reductions and street closures will require Columbia Point Drive to close at 5 a.m. Monday.
