  • Mid-Columbia Symphony begins its 81st season with a Halloween-themed concert 'Spooky Revelry' this weekend that includes an interactive murder mystery—audiences will solve clues as they enjoy the performance. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Columbia Basin College hosted a game show-themed fundraiser Thursday night in Pasco to raise over $200,000 for student scholarships—attendees joined on stage and in mini-games for prizes like FIFA World Cup tickets, Seattle Kraken tickets, and trip vouchers. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Energy Northwest said it made progress on the Cascade Advanced Energy Facility near its power plant in Richland—this project will use 12 small modular reactors partly paid for by Amazon as part of its one‐year deal with X‐Energy. Construction will begin by the end of this decade with work set to finish in the 2030s, and the project also includes a new Energy Learning Center with Columbia Basin College funded by a DOE grant.  The KEY

  • Motorists in South Richland will face delays starting October 20th as Richland begins a safety upgrade at the busy Gage Boulevard and Leslie Road intersection—new ADA ramps, pedestrian push buttons, and detour signs will be installed during a three-week construction period.  KFLD

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland cut 5.5 full-time therapy positions amid financial pressures from delayed reimbursements+increased costs.   • Ben’s Original is issuing a voluntary recall of select rice products — including code 534AMGRV22 sold at Target — due to the possible presence of small, natural stones that may hurt the mouth or stomach; consumers who have the product should not use it and must call Customer Care at 1-800-548-6253.  The KEY
