On September 16, officials held a groundbreaking ceremony at McDaniel Arena—part of Benton Franklin Fair upgrades that will double seating from 3,000 to 6,000 and update restrooms and public access.

The $12 million project is set to be finished by July and follows $3 million in parking lot improvements completed in July.

Richland hosted the Cool Desert Nights event in late June that drew 10,000 to 12,000 visitors and generated nearly $1.85M in spending from hotels, restaurants and vendors—boosting local businesses.

Officials warn residents that work on the Dallas Road Roundabouts Project will begin tomorrow on Trowbridge Boulevard, reopening it on September 19 while closing part of Dallas Road from Trowbridge to Ava Way — traffic will be detoured to Gateway Avenue.

The Ironman Triathlon will use the detour for its bicycle race on September 21 — flaggers will let cars pass when no cyclists are present.
