ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews in West Richland are addressing a fire near West Van Giesen after a reported transformer explosion caused a power outage—only two properties sustained minor damage and no homes were harmed, with evacuations since canceled and the cause under investigation.  NBC Tri-Cities

CRIME NEWS

  • Dr. Mark Mulholland, a longtime OB-GYN in Richland, faces more than six sexual assault lawsuits from women who allege he abused patients from 2005 until today—raising concerns about a longstanding pattern of abuse.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • Kennewick police arrested 29-year-old Elias Huerta-Camacho on Tuesday night on the 2100 block of West 4th Avenue after a woman reported he pointed a firearm at her, fired a shot, fled into a business, and threw his gun over a fence—officers later retrieved the weapon and booked him on charges including assault, unlawful firearm possession, obstructing a public servant, and resisting arrest.  KFLD
  • On Tuesday night, Kennewick police responded to a firearm disturbance on West 4th Avenue when a convicted felon—who threatened a woman with his gun—fled into a local business and was arrested after a brief chase.  KONA

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Tonight, Eastern Washington's dark skies will display the peak of the Perseid meteor shower with up to 60 meteors per hour after midnight—observers in rural areas near the Tri-Cities can expect clearer views.  KONA

  • The City of Richland announced that the Dallas Road roundabouts project is on hold due to a labor dispute — intersections at Ava Way and Trowbridge Boulevard remain open to traffic. There is no set timeline and work may resume tomorrow or be delayed further based on ongoing labor negotiations.  KFLD

HEALTH NEWS

  • Scientists from New York University Langone Health and partners found that patients with osteoarthritis eased knee pain by slightly adjusting their foot angle—research on 68 people using treadmill tests showed that knee stress dropped 4 percent and pain scores fell by 2.5 points on a ten point scale.  FOX41 Yakima
