  • Little Lives Small Animal Rescue and Adventures Underground Bookstore hosted a pet adoption event in Richland where visitors could buy a book (and possibly bring home a guinea pig, bearded dragon, rabbit, tortoise, snake, or budgie) during the rescue’s first event in over two years. Co-executive director Natalie Vazquez-Lopez said similar events will happen monthly to help families learn about caring for small pets.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • Yesterday in Kennewick, a house fire that began just before 7 a.m. left a homeowner with burns who evacuated with two dogs while a firefighter rescued a third dog and two firefighters received treatment for heat exhaustion—officials de-energized a downed power line that had blocked access.  FOX41 Yakima

  • ETEBA will hold its first Hanford Federal Business Opportunities Forum on Aug. 14 at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick to highlight federal contract updates, clean energy panels, and a keynote from State Sen. Matt Boehnke. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, construction on the Well 2R Wellhouse and Transmission Main Project began at Flat Top Park in West Richland as the city replaces the old Well 2, which was out of service since 2019, with a new facility in the Benton Franklin Transit loop. The project will upgrade the water transmission main along Collins Road from Bombing Range Road to Astoria Road—forcing detours and traffic control—and bus services will remain fully operational.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • Kadlec announced that its breast biopsy process was upgraded with the new Brevera system from the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation on July 27, which uses real-time imaging to confirm the correct tissue sample.
