  • Business owners can review the chamber’s online voting guide that shows candidates’ responses on economic issues from the Vote for Business Primary Questionnaire — the guide does not endorse any candidate — to learn where 34 candidates are running for 14 seats on city councils and port boards. EDUCATION NEWS

  • WSU Tri-Cities' viticulture and enology department in Richland is now a state workforce program so it can get new grant money and attract more students. Officials said it will soon ask for another grant to hire a student retention advisor and improve work chances in the wine field — steps that will help students start their careers.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

  • Washington state officials will hold online listening sessions starting on July 22 to review changes that will require collecting sales tax on extra services beginning Oct. 1—business owners must register ahead of time and can submit feedback online until Aug. 1.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business
  • Richland City Council will review new off-street parking rules — a plan based on a Kimley-Horn study and community input — in a workshop on Tuesday, July 22.   • At its July 15 meeting, West Richland City Council discussed property maintenance and public safety issues, noting multiple properties cluttered with junk — council members proposed stronger nuisance code enforcement and forming a committee to review resident concerns — and they committed to more transparent city resource allocation.
