  • The Tri-City Raceway will host Night of Chaos on Saturday, July 19 — drivers will tow boats on a lightly watered track to compete for a $1,000 prize while other unique challenges and stunt acts add extra excitement. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m.  Apple Valley News Now

CRIME NEWS

  • A man allegedly tried to steal a gate latch on July 15 from a store on Horne Drive and was arrested Tuesday evening—deputies tracked him to a Dollar General on Babs Avenue near Second Street—and he now faces charges for third-degree theft and driving violations.  Apple Valley News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Washington State has made it illegal to transport, buy, sell or distribute English ivy and 18 other invasive plants—new regulations require owners to safely dispose of these species. The rule, finalized after public comments and input from local environmental groups, aims to protect trees and native plants from damage.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senator Matt Boehnke from Kennewick joined the Western Energy Caucus, a bipartisan group that unites lawmakers from 11 western states to strengthen grid resilience and manage carbon emissions. He recently studied clean energy practices in Denmark and will support new legislation for the 2026 sessions—his efforts aim to boost Washington’s role in energy solutions.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • West Richland Mayor Pro Tem Fred Brink was elected president of the Association of Washington Cities at a conference in Kennewick held June 24-27, where city leaders from across Washington voted on his new role. He will now lead a board of 25 members & work to represent the voices of local cities with his extensive public service experience.  FOX41 Yakima
  • Richland will change George Washington Way and Jadwin Avenue to one-way streets as it acquires rights-of-way and launches a new website to keep residents updated. The federal review passed last month, and city officials will soon reach out to property owners as construction begins in spring 2026 as part of a $23.5-million project to improve downtown safety and traffic flow.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business
  • West Richland Mayor Pro Tem Fred Brink was elected president of the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) after city leaders voted at the annual conference held in Kennewick from June 24 to June 27.
