  • Kennewick police officers — with support from Washington State Patrol and fire crews on standby — will patrol the upcoming Water Follies event along the Columbia River at the end of the month as tens of thousands of visitors are expected.   • Golf Universe in Kennewick is now selling limited edition Happy Gilmore 2 ‘Hockey Jersey’ Chrome Tour golf balls—designed for distance, feel and control with a hockey jersey look—and they are expected to sell quickly ahead of the film’s Netflix debut on July 25th.  The KEY

  • Daughtry will perform at the Benton—Franklin Fair on Wednesday night, August 20th; tickets are on sale at the fair box office or online. The band, known from American Idol, is expected to deliver a lively rock show for local fans.  KONA

  • Homeowners must complete their solar panel installations by December 31 to claim the tax credit before the law ends the break, which will make solar systems more expensive and extend the payback period. Higher costs and unstable supply—driven by new tariffs—are expected to force buyers to depend on state incentives for savings.  FOX41 Yakima

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Richland has launched a new website called TheDowntownLoop.com to report on a project that will make downtown safer and easier to travel. The project will change George Washington Way and Jadwin Avenue into one-way streets with safe bike lanes, wide sidewalks & better crossings, with work set to begin in Spring and finish by Fall/Winter.  The KEY
  • Workers have begun dismantling Columbia Park Marina as part of removing the causeway connecting Bateman Island to the Richland shoreline — a process expected to take about two months. The city closed the western section of the Columbia Park West parking lot and part of the multi-use trail leading to Wye Park due to the work.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

  • The CDC warns Washington residents that drinking coffee during the heat wave can raise internal temperatures and increase the risk of heat-related illness—this is because caffeine may impair the body’s ability to cool down.
