- ➤ At a July 9 meeting, Pauline Schafer from The Reach Museum introduced a plan to plant a sycamore tree grown from seeds that orbited the moon on NASA’s Artemis 1 mission to honor local astronaut Kayla Barron. The tree is now in a nursery and will be planted next spring in a park at Howard Amon Park + John Dam Plaza while local residents take part in learning programs to watch its growth. FOX41 Yakima

- ➤ City council will review the Downtown Loop project at its meeting on July 15 where officials will discuss plans to convert George Washington Way and Jadwin Avenue into one-way streets and add bike lanes, wider sidewalks, and improved lighting—milestones include an October public open house, design completion by Dec 31, and spring 2026 construction.
