  • People in the Tri-Cities still remember the 1974 bomb that killed Superior Court Judge James Lawless when he opened a mailed package—Ricky Anthony Young, convicted mainly by fingerprint tests and a confession in 1994, now serves a 77-year sentence as a request for DNA testing was denied.  KFLD
  • Richard Jacobson was sentenced to life in prison for killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Brandy Ebanez — a jury found him guilty on June 18 and he was sentenced on July 7.  Apple Valley News Now
  • Families in Tri-Cities still recall a 1974 pipe bomb that killed Judge James Lawless in his courthouse, and during a recent book signing Ricky Anthony Young’s name—linked to burning a church and bombing a sheriff’s car—was mentioned as old wounds reopened when a judge denied a DNA test request from the Innocence Project Northwest.  The KEY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Richland begins pavement preservation work with slurry seal and micro-surfacing projects on roads north of Van Giesen Street and in the Horn Rapids area until Jul. 17. City officials warn that drivers and pedestrians must follow posted directions — and avoid closed roads — until the work is safely completed.  KEPR
