COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Richland Farmers Market will open Friday at the Parkway and will offer fresh fruits, meats, vegetables, baked goods, wines, craft beer and artisan crafts with live music every week through October. Public parking is available at nearby lots+ locals are encouraged to enjoy the vibrant summer market.  KFLD

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Construction has started on a new Costco in Richland that will help ease long lines and parking problems at the current store—local shoppers can expect smoother days when shopping. The store will open between mid-summer and late Fall.  The KEY
  • Costa Vida abruptly closed its Richland location at 3015 Duportail after posting a sign that it was closed permanently on the door, and corporate officials did not respond to inquiries. The chain still operates restaurants in Kennewick near 27th and South Union + in Pasco at 6627 Burden Boulevard.  KONA

CULTURE NEWS

  • Richland Public Library is hosting the Double the Fun Film Series event on Sunday, June 8th at noon for adults 18 and older where the films Purple Rain and The Color Purple will be screened to celebrate Prince’s legacy. The event connects his music to cherished memories and historical themes—honoring the spirit of love and liberation.  KONA
  • Richland Public Library will host a nostalgic film series that celebrates Prince’s music and links cherished memories of love and liberation while marking Juneteenth and Black Independence Day—featuring screenings of Purple Rain and The Color Purple. The event is for ages 18 and over and will take place Sunday, June 8th at noon.  KFLD

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Richland is expected to approve a maintenance agreement with the Washington State Department of Transportation & install a 'Welcome to Richland' sign on the city's south side as part of a traffic improvement project.  NBC Tri-Cities

SPORTS NEWS

  • Gesa Stadium is in the running for Newsweek's Best Single-A Ballpark award as one of 15 stadiums under review—making it the only candidate from the Pacific Northwest among three western venues. Fans may cast one vote per day until 9 a.m. June 25, and winners will be announced on July 2.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business
