  • Between March and April, employment in the Tri-Cities improved as 139,128 workers were employed out of a 145,430 workforce and the number of unemployed dropped from 7,046 to 6,302—bringing the rate from 4.9% to 4.3%, while the state saw a steady 4.4%.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business
  • AAA reported that on May 22 a gallon of regular unleaded in the Tri-Cities cost $4.12 — 9 cents more than a week ago but still lower than last Memorial Day's $4.43, and experts say lower crude oil prices are slowing the rise ahead of a busy summer travel season.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business
  • Energy Northwest is launching a $700 million upgrade at its Columbia Generating Station near Richland under a new deal with the Bonneville Power Administration to add energy for 125,000 homes. The project will boost output by 162 megawatts by 2031 and will take place over the next six years—coinciding with refueling outages that will create new job opportunities.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

  • Fishing officials in Richland have extended Columbia River fishing for Chinook salmon—today's season runs through mid-June as biologists now expect about 155,500 adult salmon, up from the earlier forecast. Anglers must follow the daily limit of two adult hatchery salmonids, with only one allowed to be a Chinook.  KFLD

  • The Pacific Northwest Police Detection Dog Association is hosting a five-day conference in Pasco to train police K-9 teams in detecting drugs and explosives.
