BUSINESS NEWS

  • Old Dominion Freight Lines opened a new Pasco service center at 5806 N Capitol Ave. The facility — spanning 17.9 acres with 65 doors — will boost capacity for its LTL network and promise faster service times for the Tri-Cities.  NBC Tri-Cities

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Benton Franklin Fair is seeking solo and group performers to sing the National Anthem during rodeo events and concerts at the fair. Applicants must submit their information by June 1 to be considered.  KFLD
  • The REACH Museum will offer free summer admission for military families through the Blue Star program starting tomorrow and a new 40-year retrospective of John Clemets photography will open on June 6 as part of the America 250 celebration.  KEPR
  • The National Park Service will host historical tours starting with a Hike Through Time on May 16 at 8:45 a.m., followed by daily Atomic Explorations talks from May 25 to Sept. 5 and a pre-registered 17-mile Ride With a Ranger on June 13 — events celebrating Hanford’s legacy.  The KEY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kiona-Benton City School District in Benton City plans an additional $2 million in budget cuts after two failed levies and rising operating costs, which may bring state oversight. The board will continue discussions through the summer and could propose a replacement levy in November (the district has already cut $1.5 million).  NBC Tri-Cities

  • Kennewick fire officials advise homeowners to prepare for wildfire season by making house numbers visible and creating a 30ft safe zone while urging residents to pack a go-bag with essential supplies as drought conditions persist this summer.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • Franklin County commissioners are discussing a potential split from the Benton-Franklin Health District and officials warn that a rushed separation could disrupt shared public health services for residents and businesses — a change that may take years to fully implement.  KEPR
