  • Amendment XXI in Richland will offer a half-off deal from 6 a.m. Friday, letting customers buy a $25 eVoucher for $12.50 to enjoy speakeasy-style cocktails and pub fare made with local ingredients.  KONA
  • Framatome said its Richland facility received NRC approval to produce nuclear fuel with higher uranium enrichment — the 55-year-old site, employing over 600 people, will hold an operational readiness review in early 2027 as part of its Advanced Fuel Management program to extend fuel cycles and reduce waste.  NBC Tri-Cities

  • Graffiti with swastikas remains along the American Heritage Trail in Zintel Canyon even after reports to Parks and Recreation, and cleanup crews will soon begin removal (a regular walker said the marks have persisted for six months).  KEPR

  • Pasco nurse Melissa Abel was honored by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction on School Nurse Day for her dedication to student health at Chiawana High School. The Facebook post celebrated her work and recognized school nurses across the state.  NBC Tri-Cities

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Warmer weather has brought increased snake sightings onto local trails, according to the Department of Fish and Wildlife. Hikers are advised to stay on clear paths (a western rattlesnake was recently spotted) and avoid brushy areas to reduce the risk of bites.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • The Bureau of Land Management advises campers to check fire restrictions, plan ahead and follow Leave No Trace principles as many local campgrounds open by mid-May — visitors should share their travel plans and use proper safety gear to enjoy safe outdoor adventures.  The KEY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senator Patty Murray met with workers in Pasco today and vowed to oppose a $400 million budget cut that would drop Hanford cleanup funding from $3.3 billion in 2026 to about $2.9 billion in 2027, potentially triggering layoffs and delays — officials plan to appeal for full support.  Apple Valley News Now
  • The Port of Benton will begin rail system upgrades with a $9.5-million DOT grant and $2.4-million matching funds, replacing 10,000 rail ties and upgrading signals for improved safety in the Tri-Cities area. Bidding and design work will start in late 2026.  Apple Valley News Now

  • West Richland's Lewis and Clark Ranch project received city council approval on May 5 to begin phase one on over 750 acres. The project aims to add nearly 4,000 homes and create 30,000 houses plus 20,000 jobs over the next century (phase one may take up to 20 years).  Apple Valley News Now
