  • Deputies responded early Tuesday to a vehicle fire on South Pullman Street in Finley that led to the discovery of a truck with a stolen trailer and the arrest of a 51-year-old man charged with possession of stolen property (officials are investigating the fire's cause and questioning two others).  KONA

  • The latest Federal Reserve report warns that rising costs, layoffs, and a cooling housing market are testing Washington's businesses—local leaders are considering steps to support operations and ease housing shortages.  KONA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Bob Ferguson signed a new law on May 2 that will require yearly greenhouse gas emissions reports starting in 2031 and interim updates in 2027 and 2029—sponsored by Sen. Matt Boehnke, the law is effective July 27 and will help the state track its climate progress.  NBC Tri-Cities
  • The city's new Queensgate Drive extension is expected to open today, connecting Keene Drive to Shockley Road and linking the shopping district with neighborhoods on the south side of Badger Mountain—bridging Interstate 182 to ease traffic flow.
