COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Pasco Farmers Market will open on Saturday, May 9 in downtown Pasco at 426 West Lewis Street offering fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods and local produce. It will run from morning to early afternoon while other local markets are scheduled on different days.  The KEY
  • Pasco Firefighters rescued a stranded paddle boarder on the Columbia River after local resident Dylan Grad gave a ride to a crew member so the team could free the anchor + the department later thanked Grad for his quick help.  NBC Tri-Cities

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fire crews responded to seven brush fires along Highway 14 on May 5 after sparks from chains dragged by a semi-truck ignited vegetation near Paterson and the I-82 junction. Officials reported no structures were threatened and lanes closed by troopers were reopened after crews contained the fires.  Apple Valley News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Washington state landfills refuse asbestos, car batteries, fluorescent bulbs, medical waste, mercury items, and motor oil to protect public health—residents should use certified recyclers and disposal services for safe handling.  KFLD

HEALTH NEWS

  • The USDA issued a nationwide recall for several meat products due to potential Salmonella contamination, including Mama Cozzi’s and Great Value items sold at local stores. Tri-Cities residents are advised to check their freezers and follow recall instructions as no illnesses have been reported.  KONA
  • Lutheran Community Services Northwest is building a 38,000 sqft facility on Canal Drive to expand youth mental health services for young people + families in Kennewick.   • This summer, locals can float on seven lesser-known rivers across Washington State (including spots near the Tri-Cities) for a relaxed day on the water, offering a refreshing break from the heat.  KFLD

  • Unlimited hydroplanes will test new speed upgrades on Columbia River on Saturday, May 30. River access will be closed from 6 AM to 6 PM at key boat launches & Lampson Pits parking fees will benefit local Boy Scouts.  KFLD
