ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday, Richland police responded to a motorcycle crash at the intersection of Gage Boulevard and Venus Circle after a vehicle turning left caused the accident, and the injured rider was taken to a nearby hospital while westbound lanes were closed from Bellerive Drive to Venus Circle—officers are investigating the incident and advise drivers to avoid the area.  NBC Tri-Cities

CRIME NEWS

  • Richland police arrested a woman today after she reportedly pointed a handgun at several businesses near Columbia Center Boulevard and dropped her weapon without obeying officers—multiple agencies have since searched nearby fields while traffic delays persist.  Apple Valley News Now

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tri-Cities Airport reported that 115,300 people flew from January to March—a 12% increase over last year—and thanked the community for supporting record-breaking travel, following two consecutive record-breaking years.  FOX41 Yakima

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bike Tri-Cities and the REACH Museum will host a free Ride with a Ranger event on May 3 that covers a 17-mile round-trip route along Sacajawea Heritage Trail and Richland Parkway to the REACH Museum where riders will join hands-on activities about the Manhattan Project.   • A local writer criticized highway 395 near Yelm for its confusing speed changes and merging challenges near the church and urged WSDOT to study a massive roundabout—similar to the one at Queensgate—to improve traffic flow.  KONA

HEALTH NEWS

  • A study showed that fewer children with asthma had an inhaler after GlaxoSmithKline stopped selling Flovent and switched to an authorized generic—families faced higher out-of-pocket costs and insurance issues. Data from 2021 to 2023 revealed a drop in access from 41% to 35%, which could raise the risk of asthma attacks.  FOX41 Yakima
  • A survey by the Alzheimer’s Association reported on April 30 found that 4 out of 5 Americans want early testing for Alzheimer’s before symptoms appear, with 91% saying they would take a simple blood test and 92% saying they would try drugs to slow the disease. The study of adults 45 and older comes as more than 7 million Americans already have Alzheimer’s and many expect new treatments to emerge in the next decade.  FOX41 Yakima
