  • Richland Fire and Emergency Services and over ten local partners will host the Community Wildfire Preparedness Expo at Badger Mountain Community Park on Saturday, May 3. The family event will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the parking lot near the dog park at 350 Keene Road — visitors can watch live demos and speak with local firefighters about wildfire safety.  NBC Tri-Cities

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Federal campgrounds, boat ramps, and visitor centers at lakes in six states will close or reduce hours starting mid-May due to budget cuts and staffing shortages. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (which oversees facilities in southeastern Washington) said limited staffing will be concentrated to maintain essential services at remaining sites.  FOX41 Yakima
