COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The City of Richland will hold a ribbon cutting for the new Sturgeon Cove Playground at Howard Amon Park on Friday May 16th at 11 a.m. The playground features a paddle wheel cruise ship replica, expanded play areas, dueling ziplines, extra swings and sensory play equipment (with improved ADA accessibility) for all ages (designed with a nod to the Columbia River).  The KEY
  • Richland Parks and Public Facilities Director Chris Waite led the 52 in '25 program that held park tours on April 23rd at 5:00 p.m. at Claybell Park and Amon Creek Park where community members met with a police commander and a park ranger. The program, which features tours of over 60 parks and open spaces, was delayed from its January start due to cold weather.  FOX41 Yakima
  • On May 3, Columbia Point Marina Park will host a Star Wars-themed pet fun run—with 1k and 5k courses, a pet costume contest, and vendor booths to help raise funds for Pet Overpopulation Prevention.   • Richland boaters at Columbia Park marina are told to move their boats as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will remove the Bateman Island causeway to improve salmon habitat—this project will also eliminate the 106-slip marina and begins design now with construction set for late 2025 or early 2026.  FOX41 Yakima

  • The Tri-City Regional Chamber hosted a luncheon Wednesday where port officials from Pasco, Kennewick and Benton shared updates on economic development projects in the region.
