CRIME NEWS

  • Richard Cantu, a 26-year-old Tri-City man, was sentenced to 108 months in prison and four years probation after federal agents recovered fentanyl-laced pills — 10,000 found in a child's Hello Kitty bag — and other evidence during December 2023 raids.  The KEY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • WSDOT held a session on upcoming summer projects in the Tri-Cities, discussing plans to add a lane, improve intersections and install a new truck weigh station on State Route 240 in the Richland corridor + officers reported over 12,000 citations for distracted driving in construction zones this year. Other projects include painting the I-82 bridge from Umatilla to Hermiston beginning in May + the work is expected to reduce commute delays.  KEPR
  • Drivers in Richland will see several highway projects this summer as WSDOT will install a noise wall along State Route 240 near Stevens Drive adjacent to Moon River RV Park & begin painting Umatilla Bridge, building a new weigh station near the Washington-Oregon border, and chip sealing along State Route 260 starting in May. The projects, which cost around $8 million and follow reports of 1,607 work zone crashes last year, are expected to improve road safety & be completed by the end of summer.  FOX41 Yakima
