  • Benton County Deputies captured a domestic violence suspect who hit his girlfriend's home with a baseball bat to destroy the bedroom and bathroom on 14th Street late Wednesday night—tri-city SWAT arrested the man who now faces a charge of Malicious Mischief in the 3rd Degree.  The KEY
  • Trooper Sarah Clasen hit Jhoser Sanchez’s motorcycle at 7:30 p.m. on March 1st—killing him—and although she was booked for vehicular homicide with a 0.17% BAC, prosecutor Larry Haskell’s office is still investigating and no new charges have been filed.  KFLD
  • Yesterday, a dashcam video showed a grey BMW 5 Series and a white sedan running a red light at — Steptoe and Gage — in Richland at speeds between 110 and 130 mph after a shooting near Fire Station 72 — police detained two suspects and towed the white sedan — as authorities continue to investigate.  KFLD
  • The Kennewick Police Department is investigating a shooting at Columbia Center Mall Wednesday afternoon—one person was hit by gunfire and taken to Kadlec after first stopping at Richland Fire Station 72 while a vehicle linked to the incident was stopped on Keene Road and 19-year-old Shaden Kade Sullivan was booked on charges including drive-by shooting, first degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.  KEPR
  • Six weeks ago on March 1, state trooper Sarah Clasen was in an accident when her Kia Telluride struck 20-year-old Jhoser Sanchez’s motorcycle, killing him; she was arrested for DUI and vehicular homicide and her blood alcohol content (0.17%) may lead to tougher charges (including a wrongful death lawsuit) as Spokane County Prosecutor Larry Haskell continues his investigation.  The KEY
  • A 23-year-old man from Kennewick with possible mental health issues boarded a school bus early Thursday at a North Volland stop, sat behind the driver while fiddling with the controls, and was quickly removed from the vehicle after the driver escorted a student and parent away before police arrested him on attempted vehicle theft charges — authorities confirmed no other students were on board.  KONA

  • A study published on March 31 found that owning a pet improved overall well-being similarly to close human relationships—providing an estimated benefit of about $90,000 a year. Researchers urged policymakers to relax housing restrictions so more people can enjoy these emotional benefits while experts noted that pets are not a complete substitute for human contact.  FOX41 Yakima
