  • Charlie, the stray pup featured on Wet Nose Wednesday, is up for adoption from Pet Overpopulation Prevention in the Tri-Cities. His foster-to-adopt program gives local families a chance to provide a forever home + help him with basic housetraining.  KFLD
  • Richland Community Center will host Bunny Brunch on Saturday, March 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 500 Amon Park Drive — the event offers $5 pre-registration until March 27 and features an Easter egg hunt, yard games, crafts, face painting, live music, and more.  The KEY

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Tri-City Regional Chamber held its annual meeting and award luncheon Wednesday, Mar. 25 at the Three Rivers Convention Center. Local leaders and businesses received awards including Business of the Year (Ice Harbor Brewery) and the inaugural Business Champion of the Year for State Representative Stephanie Barnard.  KEPR
  • Alaska Air canceled its daily flight from Pasco to Burbank five months after launch as part of a west coast service review (competition may have played a role), though other flights from PSC remain unaffected and routes to Portland are set to resume later this year.  The KEY
  • Regional vineyards have begun bud break early, with Sagemoor, Yellowhawk, and Shaw Vineyards noting green shoots between Mar. 21 and Mar. 24 before the usual Apr. 2 start, and wind machines may run later this week as mid- to low-30s temperatures pose a frost risk.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

  • Chief Joseph Middle School has expanded its Assistance Through Partnerships program as local churches, nonprofits and businesses unite to provide food bags, volunteers and essential supplies — the initiative offers hygiene products and choir clothing as part of efforts to support student needs.  NBC Tri-Cities

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Every spring, residents across Tri-Cities, including Richland, notice a strong fishy odor from Bradford pear trees blooming to attract pollinators — their bright white flowers leave an odd local scent.  KONA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State officials have chosen a 140-acre site near Horn Rapids for a state veterans cemetery, sharing the decision at a town hall meeting with local residents. Funding is still pending, and construction could begin in the coming years to offer local veterans a nearby resting place.  NBC Tri-Cities
