- ➤ Travelers in Washington have received scam text messages that claim an unpaid toll and direct recipients to fake websites to collect personal information — WSDOT said Good To Go! will never ask for payment by texting and urged caution to avoid these schemes. KONA
- ➤ Kennewick officers responded on March 20 to an incident at an apartment parking lot when a man with a large knife sprinted at an officer; both officers fired, hitting him and he was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and he will be booked for first degree assault upon his release—while a Special Investigations Unit and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office investigate the shooting. - ➤ Isaac Carpenter, a Tri-City native who formerly drummed for Loudermilk (a band originally formed as a cover band), joined Guns N’ Roses on March 20 to replace longtime drummer Frank Ferrer. The band will begin its world tour in South Korea in May with concerts in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business
- ➤ Artworks Northwest is showing local talent at Gallery at the Park, a venue displaying nearly 200 works by local and regional artists. The group, which has about 60 members, holds monthly meetings and will hold a lecture on October 8 at 6:00 p.m. at the Richland Public Library — where Nathan Robles will speak about art's role in the community. - ➤ The Washington State Department of Transportation restricted over 80 miles of I-82 for motor homes between milepost 82 at Prosser and milepost 132 at the Oregon state line yesterday—strong winds risked vehicles tipping over. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution as gusts up to 40 mph are expected to continue into Friday and Saturday. KONA
- ➤ The Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick will break ground on March 24 at 3 p.m. on its expansion after the City Council approved the project on February 18 with no new taxes for residents— the expansion adds 60,000 square feet of exhibit space, 5,000 square feet of meeting rooms, an extended lobby and a new kitchen to boost the local economy. A 162-room hotel by A-1 Pearl will begin construction in April and the project is set to be completed in Fall 2026. FOX41 Yakima
