  • Clarice, a 6 1/2-year-old, 76-pound Belgian Malinois mix, has been at Tri-Cities Animal Services since October 9, 2024 after being rescued near SR 395 and 10th Avenue in Kennewick — she is waiting for a forever home. Her adoption fee is $50 — she is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and visitors can meet her Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM.  KONA

CRIME NEWS

  • A Pasco towing business owner was charged in Federal Court on March 13 after police found a loaded .22 pistol in his desk during an investigation that began in November 2024—he had previous convictions including unlawful re-entry after deportation.  KONA
  • Federal justice officials announced on March 11 that BNL Technical Services LLC, a subcontractor on the Hanford site, will pay nearly $500k in restitution for misusing Covid-19 relief funds—its owner reached a $1.1M settlement in a civil fraud lawsuit.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business
  • On March 13th, a roll-over collision on County Route 12 (at 8 pm) led to the arrest of a driver for suspected DUI (no injuries were reported).  The KEY
  • Benton County deputies responded to a rollover collision on Thursday night at 8 pm on County Route 12—no one was hurt—and investigators arrested the driver who was not at fault and had been drinking for suspicion of DUI.  KFLD
  • Richland Police Department and the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission held a focused patrol on March 7 and March 8 that resulted in 74 traffic stops and three arrests for speeding or street racing on Keene Road, Columbia Park Trail, SR 240 + George Washington Way.  FOX41 Yakima

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State employment security officials and local partners will cohost three free webinars starting March 20 for federal workers affected by layoffs or furloughs to learn about unemployment benefits, health care coverage, job training and job search help. The webinars run from 10 a.m. to noon on March 20, April 30 and May 29—registration is required.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business

  • Port of Kennewick’s Vista Field will soon host its first medical facility as Brandon Furness and Royce Barney of Columbia Point Eye Care closed the purchase of 6737 Azure Drive on March 12 and plan a 7,000 square foot building with medical offices, an optical retail shop and 1,500 square foot tenant space. Permitting is finished and construction will start within 90 days with completion targeted for fall—this marks the third property sale at Vista Field.  Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business
