- ➤ Scooby, a friendly 2.5-year-old Lab-Pit Bull mix, is ready for adoption at Pet Overpopulation Prevention in Tri-Cities; the dog is house- and crate-trained, good with other dogs and children (but his reaction to cats is unknown) and awaits a loving forever home. KFLD
- ➤ The Tri-City Family Expo will be held at the Hapo Center in Pasco tomorrow and Saturday, Jan. 17, featuring shows such as Reptile Man and Story time with the Queen of Hearts. Friday events run from 12pm to 7pm plus Saturday events run from 10:30am to 6pm. NBC Tri-Cities
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kennewick voters will decide on two replacement levies for the school district on Feb. 10 to fund education staffing, tech upgrades, and safety enhancements. If approved, the district will secure over $66 million in state support over four years (boosting resources and programs). KONA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Law enforcement is reminding drivers that side windows must let at least 24% of light through and windshields cannot have tint below the AS1 line (or 6 inches from the top) to avoid fines. Officers from WSP, Yakima and Tri-Cities enforce these rules to prevent violations. KFLD
- ➤ Local law enforcement in Tri-Cities and Yakima today reminds drivers to follow window tint rules (side windows must allow at least 24% light transmission and windshields cannot be tinted below the AS1 line); failure to comply may result in a fix-it ticket. KONA
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Washington State Department of Health and the University of Washington have expanded the Telebuprenorphine Hotline to offer same-day, free opioid treatment. Available statewide from 9 am to 9 pm for anyone aged 13 or older, the service helps people start or continue buprenorphine to ease withdrawal and cravings. The KEY
- ➤ Benton-Franklin Health District confirmed Wednesday that two people died from flu-related illness in Benton County and urged everyone six months and older to get a flu shot, wash hands frequently, and disinfect surfaces to help slow the flu spread. Apple Valley News Now
